Everybody loves a party, and if you’re having guests round what could be better than a welcome cocktail or something to finish off the night. Below are 5 easy cocktails to show off your hosting skills!

Kir Royal

This is the perfect arrival drink, a classic French Kir Royale adds a touch of sophistication to any gathering. Pour 25ml of Crème De Cassis in to the bottom of each champagne flute and top up with champagne or prosecco. Garnish with a raspberry!

Martini

Not for the faint hearted, this definitive pre-dinner cocktail has been popular since the 1880’s. Use a London Dry Gin like Sipsmith or William’s GB and a quality vermouth. Mix 70ml of the gin with 10ml of dry vermouth over ice. Strain into a cocktail glass and serve with a twist of lemon. For a filthy twist replace your lemon with an olive and some olive brine - you have yourself a Dirty Martini

Sloe Gin Fizz

This delicious, fruity and citrusy cocktail is bad on a classic Tom Collins. Pour 50ml of Sloe Gin, we prefer Sipsmith, into a tall glass, add the juice of half a lemon and top up with soda water. Add a garnish of lemon. Perfect for summer sipping!

Espresso Martini

There’s a little more involved in making this 80’s classic, but it’s absolutely worth it. Use quality ingredients and you’ll taste the difference. Pour 25ml of coffee liqueur and 50ml of vodka, we prefer Chase, into a cocktail shaker and cover with ice. Add one shot of fresh espresso and shake together. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with 3 espresso beans. If you like your coffee a little sweeter add some simple sugar syrup or mix sugar with your espresso before you add it.

Bloody Mary

This is a hangover cure like no other. After you’ve had one of each of the above – you’ll need this! In a tall glass filled with ice pour in 50ml of vodka and 150ml of tomato juice. Squeeze in the juice of half a lemon and stir slowly with a stick of celery. Add 3 dashes of Worcestershire sauce, a dash or two of tabasco and a good grind of black pepper. Mix together and enjoy!
